Sounds lovely! I don't know what we would do if we had to build a house from scratch or redo a "fixer-upper" kitchen. I know what I like, just don't know the specifics, like my absolute preferred counter height. Someday I'll get to do it and hopefully won't mess up! Dee

We live in a 1925 house and the kitchen had been remodeled in the '80s. Oddest thing--the fridge was not in the kitchen but around the corner, directly in front of you when you came in the back door -- the site of the old "icebox" we figure. We did a major overhaul, closed up a doorway to move the fridge into the kitchen, got new appliances & cabinetry, redid the island and sink (was big old cast iron), new quartz countertops, new lighting & pot rack, new cork floor. It's beautiful now, but we couldn't do anything about the size. Wish it was a foot bigger in either direction and had more counter space around the stove and sink. Also, the cork floor is not holding up well to our cats -- many scratches. Wish we had gotten hardwood or solid cork (color all the way through) vs. our "clik-lok" type. Also should have gotten better quality cabinetry.
