Sounds lovely! I don’t know what we would do if we had to build a house from scratch or redo a “fixer-upper” kitchen. I know what I like, just don’t know the specifics, like my absolute preferred counter height. Someday I’ll get to do it and hopefully won’t mess up! Dee

We live in a 1925 house and the kitchen had been remodeled in the ’80s. Oddest thing–the fridge was not in the kitchen but around the corner, directly in front of you when you came in the back door — the site of the old “icebox” we figure. We did a major overhaul, closed up a doorway to move the fridge into the kitchen, got new appliances & cabinetry, redid the island and sink (was big old cast iron), new quartz countertops, new lighting & pot rack, new cork floor. It’s beautiful now, but we couldn’t do anything about the size. Wish it was a foot bigger in either direction and had more counter space around the stove and sink. Also, the cork floor is not holding up well to our cats — many scratches. Wish we had gotten hardwood or solid cork (color all the way through) vs. our “clik-lok” type. Also should have gotten better quality cabinetry.
