My Heritage/Buffalo

http://whatscookingamerica.net/History/Sandwiches/BeefOnWeck.htm

I miss Tim Russert, a fellow Buffalonian.  But his untimely demise led me to www.notionscapital.com, that challenged me on Buffalo foods, namely Beef on ‘Weck and Buffalo Wings.

Imagine an impeccably made and baked hard roll with salt and caraway.  Add succulent roast beef and jus, and it’s heaven on a bun.

Those were the days we cheered the Sabres and the Bills and OJ may have been scoring records before he was fingerprinted and charged with murder.  I loved our teams.  There was nothing else going on in the winter to talk about.

Except my first date.  High school.  Icy roads.  Date did 360′s on Main Street, showing off.  Not a good beginning, only lasted two weeks.  For then, anyways.  Memories come back to haunt you.

Hope you’re having a great day, and thanks ML.

Cheers! Dee

Lamb Burgers

Yesterday I visited a chi chi grocery and knew I’d be in a hurry for dinner.  So I bought gorgeous rolls ($$$) and two lamb burgers with mint and feta.

This store is a labyrinth so I couldn’t go back for yogurt.  I wanted to do a tsatziki with the cukes I’d already marinated. So, a neighbor came over for a glass of wine and stayed for dinner.

Dinner was two sauteed lamb burgers on split artisan rolls, brushed with olive oil and broiled.  I drained and chopped the cucumbers for a topping.  I also made some spinach and each of us had a lettuce wedge with choice of dressing.

For dessert, our guest had brought middle-eastern date cookies that were the perfect end of a weekday evening meal.
