Finally, an Avatar

I finally learned how to do this all by myself. It’s very difficult to try to find a photo that meets such restraints as to size. First I found Mary Beth’s photo of her black Lab Gus with a hand-lettered congratulatory message on our wedding back in January, 2003. That didn’t work.

Then I found a photo of me on a sailing yacht in Greece in 2001 on Dad’s birthday voyage, Chasing Ulysses. By the time it was cropped one couldn’t see the boat or the seas, just chipmunk cheeks.

If it’s chipmunk cheeks you’ll see, let’s go back just a few years. Yes, this was my first “kitty,” a beautiful Steiff kitty that I was choking at the neck. The good Lord made me pay for that one by sentencing me to two real cats that were each a challenge in their own way. I mean to say that s/he has permitted me the opportunity to be the personal guardian of two cats and two dogs in my adult life.

Hope you like it. If I can find another, better photo I’ll post it. You have a great day! Dee

p.s. Look to the right. I’m pawsinsd. Haven’t been able to change that name on WordPress…

TGIF

I landed on the right side, and my right leg is a series of purple bruises, not to mention my arm and now my chest. I caught myself with my left side and that’s just beginning to hurt. Three fingers wouldn’t work well when I awoke but are better after walking Zoe and making omelets and typing of course.

One ibuprofen and back to bed with ice packs. Oh, we’re in the first row in the Crawford boxes at the Astros game on Sunday afternoon. There are only five such boxes, a special treat from Jim’s new employer, who took him to lunch yesterday and presented a check, swag and Astros tix. Not bad! Things are looking up!

Stevie, we’ll be right underneath the train that chugs and blows its whistle when the Astros get a home run! These aren’t the $12 seats we booked for you and Nanny. Steve still has his oversized Astros plastic cup from two years ago. We’ll probably go to lunch downtown, then to the game.

I made 1 1/2 egg omelets this morning with ham and cheese. They turned out perfect in Jim’s new egg pan. They slid right out and folded themselves in half right onto the plates. I swear if I hadn’t gotten up to walk the dog this morning those eggs might have just scrambled and cooked themselves!

Have a wonderful Friday, and weekend, whatever your plans may be, Dee.

Olympic Gold (Gymnastics)

I can now give full attention to my husband and dog. Nastia Liukin took gold and Shawn Johnson took Silver. China took Bronze after many strange judging decisions, bizarre actually. It’s time for FIG to go back to the drawing board because this new scoring system isn’t working.

Shawn is the Mary Lou Retton or Kerri Struggs who’s short dynamite with incredible punch and athletics. Verve is a term I’d use. Then there’s Nastia Liukin, an artist with long legs and gorgeous form. She’s the daughter of coach Valery Liukin, Olympic gold medalist for Russia 20 years ago, and rhythmic gymnast World Champion 1987 from whom she inherited her grace and poise.

Lastly, I cried at the floor routine of Russia’s Anna Pavlova. It was so beautiful that it took me back to the old days of USSR team members such as Ludmilla Tourischeva.

Other than watching our swimmers get in and out of the pool with world records, I’m done with Olympics. Note to Darlene: Ryan Lochte is much hotter than Michael Phelps! Replay his gold medal ceremony! Old married lady that I am, I can always look at the gorgeous young ‘uns on tv. You can go out and get!
