Chuck Wagon Washout

The gully-washers must have made those rutted trails impassable as no-one was able to get to a computer and type in: what year “El Paso” might have been set; and what might have been on the menu at Rosa’s Cantina.

Oh my, now I’m going to have to research El Paso cuisine. I set it post-Civil War. Emphasis on Mexican cuisine. Perhaps beginnings of Tex-Mex? I’ll have to look things up and find a couple of recipes for you.

Hey El Paso, care to help?

This is an official end to the Chuck Wagon Throwdown by its moderator, with no-one declared the winner. What if they held an Olympic Games and nobody came?

I’m off to make dinner and watch the women’s gymnastics finals. Dee

Off My Game Today

My entire body aches from this fall I took yesterday morning trying to keep the dog out of traffic. Ice packs, ibuprofen. Getting old just stinks!

So I’m making Linguini al Pesto (store-bought fresh pesto) and have some apples and peaches and “apriots” which are cute little squat things that taste like a sweet ripe peach. Plus chocolate ice cream with bananas and chocolate sauce. All bribes so I can watch the women’s gymnastics finals tonight…

So here are a few photos of our tropical paradise, taken the other evening and yesterday morning after the fall and before the achiness set in.

I believe if you click on each on you want to view it will become larger. Last one is one dozen of the two dozen roses my Jim brought to me yesterday. Plus a mylar balloon for taking a spill to save our Zoe!

Busy Weekend

Especially since Jim’s been in job interview mode, taking calls and being “on” all the time and flying across the country, now that he’s settled in for a while he needs some time to wind down after a busy work week. OK this is his first full week at his new job.

Friday evening we’re attending a progressive dinner at our lofts. We’ve only been to 1-2 over the past few years but they are interesting and fun, going to three separate lofts for appetizers, dinner and dessert and it’s all catered. Saturday evening we have a baby shower that should be interesting as it’s all couples and families and not just the gals.

Sunday, the company Jim now works for has awarded us box seats for the Astros game! We’ve been to a few games over the years but only in “nosebleed” seats. Nanny, tell Steve we’ve hit the big time! Every home run we’ll watch the train @ Minutemaid Park.

So, breakfasts and lunch are easy. Dinner Sunday night a breeze, perhaps cold dinner. We might even catch a movie on Saturday, depending on what is coming out this weekend. I’m looking forward to a laid-back but busy weekend! Hope you are too, with school right around the bend.

We have to remember not to go to any local stores this weekend as it’s TX Tax-Free Weekend for going back to school and the lines are horrendous. I’ll even grocery shop beforehand. Keep on cooking! Dee
