Sausage and Potatoes

Tonight I’ve an easy dinner to make. John Henry beef sausage, pre-cooked, so I just cut it into four pieces and saute until browned and warmed through. Of course I have the oregano-roasted potatoes that I’ll cut up and do home fries. Then fresh corn on the cob. Sounds like dinner to me.

John Henry is an East Texas brand that makes meats and sausages and a plethora of rubs. I use the East Texas Rib Rub on pork chops or chicken from time to time.

Just had some bad news. A friend’s cat was diagnosed with a fatal disease today. We suffered the “dog wars” together and I’ll try to help out from afar, as I can.

An educator I thought had some really interesting ideas was featured on Page One in yesterday’s NYTimes as a child molester. Talk about a “different” education for every child. Our family had lunch with him after a lecture in my father’s honor. There’s no honor in it now or it wouldn’t be on the front page of the Times a couple of years later.

I care more for Kenji the sick cat, who I’ve not yet met as we’re now 1,500 miles apart, than this dude.

Thanks for keeping up with the blog! Write in with your comments, please!

Test Drive #2

The Highlander has

features I don’t understand

But I’ll give it a try

Reader Note:

The post called “upskirts and downblouses” was not intended to become of prurient interest. It dealt with how the new iPhone has features that make it easier for women to notice cell phone perverts. I have deleted it from the post because it was one that was quite popular and may induce novices to hack the device and keep up this sad behaviour.

It will NOT get you a girlfriend. And forget a wife and kids. I wear pants and shirts that no-one can look up or down and am nearing fifty, but take thirty years off and I’d knee you, you know where.

So no more upskirts or downblouses for us. Let’s stick to food!

Independence Day

Every day is Independence Day when it comes to our troops throughout the US and around the world, especially in places of danger.

One fellow blogger’s husband was just called up for his second deployment, location to be determined.

We write about recipes and other things and have never met, but I feel for this family. I think too many of us get into the politics of it and whether we should be in Iraq or Afghanistan, but when you look at it we are sending young people to do battle there for their lives, plus around a billion tax dollars a day.

When can we say enough is enough? The powers that be didn’t plan it correctly and the politicians outright lied as to the reason, so why do we have to stay there? To save face? The powers that be have already lost that. Just ask the European community.

In the meantime we’ll share recipes and worry about her husband. It’s all one can do.
